Game Cubes

Game CubeIt is amazing to realize that it is almost a full decade since the Game Cubes were launched by Nintendo. The machines were relatively advanced for the time and, in fact, were a big move ahead of the previous effort by Nintendo, the Nintendo 64 platform. For a variety of reasons, however, the Game Cubes never really took off, compared to the Xbox and Playstation competitors.

The Nintendo Game Cubes continue to have some fans however. Some of this comes from the titles available on the Game Cubes. Have a look online at web sites such as gamesdistrict.co.uk to see what titles may still be available for your older Game Cubes consoles.

Of course, Nintendo did not simply rewrite the book when it launched the Wii, it basically tore the book into pieces, launching a console that almost immediately outmoded many of the other consoles. The Game Cubes work with controllers that are more conventional than those on the Wii. Other controllers can be found at sites like gamesdistrict.co.uk.

Production of Game Cubes continued for many years, even after the Xbox and Playstation 2 really got going. In fact, though the Game Cubes are largely now forgotten in the minds of many people, they were quite successful in terms of sales volume. Consoles from some other companies were incredibly successful, but the Game Cubes still sold well.

Game Cubes also have a unique form factor. Instead of being wide and low (or narrow), Game Cubes are, in fact, cube-shaped. This means they do not have the room for full-sized CDs or DVDs. This was one of the complaints and may have led to the early demise of the Game Cubes line.
